Dr. Ibrahim Haddad serves as Vice President of Strategic Programs at the Linux Foundation, where he leads LF AI & Data as its Executive Director. In this role, Dr. Haddad collaborates with leading technology companies and open source communities to foster a vendor-neutral platform for advancing open source AI. He works to empower future generations of innovators by providing a trusted hub for developers to build, manage, and scale open source technology projects that address complex industry challenges.
As the founding Executive Director of the PyTorch Foundation, Dr. Haddad partnered with top industry players, including AMD, AWS, Google Cloud, Meta, Microsoft, and NVIDIA. He oversaw operations, from financial management and ecosystem growth to community engagement.
Prior to joining the Linux Foundation, Dr. Haddad was Vice President of R&D and Founder and Head of the Open Source Division at Samsung Electronics based in Silicon Valley. There, he led the development of Samsung’s open source strategy, launched collaborative R&D initiatives, supported M&A and corporate VC efforts via SamsungNEXT, and represented Samsung in numerous open source foundations and consortia.
Dr. Haddad’s career also includes technology and portfolio management roles at Ericsson Research, Open Source Development Labs, Motorola, Palm, Hewlett-Packard, and earlier roles at the Linux Foundation. He currently serves on several startup advisory boards and is a formal advisor to LF Energy and the NextArch Foundation.
Dr. Haddad holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science with Honors from Concordia University (Montréal, Canada) and is fluent in Arabic, English, and French.
